San Diego Police Department Struggles with Staff Shortages
Years of staffing shortages have only worsened recently
Earlier this month, a 30-year-old San Diego Police officer was shot and killed. His death has only exacerbated the severe staffing issues that the department has been dealing with for years.
In previous years, the department has claimed that more officers were leaving than they could hire. The issue of officers quitting at higher rates than they can be replaced has continued to worsen.
