Halliburton Cyberattack Computer Security

Halliburton hit by 'significant' cyberattack

Services firm grappling with computer system issues

Network 'completely down' after attack

HOUSTON, Aug 21 (Reuters) - Top US oilfield services firm Halliburton (HAL.N) said on Wednesday it is grappling with a "significant" computer system issue that has taken its network "completely down".

The company said it is "actively working to restore all systems as quickly and safely as possible". It did not provide further details on the nature of the issue or say when it expects to have its systems back up and running.

Halliburton is one of the world's largest oilfield services companies, providing a range of services to the oil and gas industry, including drilling, completion, and production.

The cyberattack on Halliburton is the latest in a series of cyberattacks on high-profile companies in recent months. In June, oil and gas pipeline operator Colonial Pipeline was hit by a ransomware attack that shut down its operations for several days.

The increasing frequency and sophistication of cyberattacks is a major concern for businesses and governments around the world. In the oil and gas industry, cyberattacks can disrupt operations, cause financial losses, and even pose a safety risk.

Halliburton is a Fortune 500 company with a market capitalization of over $30 billion. The company has been in business for over 100 years and has operations in over 70 countries.
