Early Life and Career

WEB Santos Saúl Álvarez Barragán, commonly known as Canelo Álvarez, was born on July 18, 1990, in Guadalajara, Mexico. He began his boxing career at a young age, winning the Mexican National Amateur Boxing Championship in 2004 and 2005.

Professional Triumphs

Álvarez turned professional in 2005 and quickly rose through the ranks. He won his first world title, the WBC Lightweight title, in 2011. Since then, he has won titles in four weight classes, including the WBO World Super Welterweight title, the WBC Middleweight title, and the WBA and WBC Light Heavyweight titles.

Undisputed Champion

In 2021, Álvarez became the undisputed super middleweight champion of the world by defeating Caleb Plant. This victory made him the first Mexican boxer to hold titles in four weight classes simultaneously.

Recent Setback

In his recent fight against WBO World Super Welter supervisor Francisco Valcarcel Alvarez, Álvarez suffered a fractured right thumb in the second round. Despite the injury, he fought through the pain and ultimately won the bout.
